Unique heroes are special heroes that are defined characters from Strike Force Heroes series. They are different in many ways, usually their upgrade order is different than the usual one from their class. They can be recruited the same way as normal heroes, but only after completing certain side missions on Insane mode, with exception of Wesley and Sanchez (who are starter heroes) and Rusty, who is given as a free gift in the newest version of the game.

All unique heroes can be found on the same map (Street), and most of them are received through Team Death Match.
To have those in Death Matches bring only 1 character with MK32, and shoot blindly until you run dry on ammo from the end of the top right platform.
On the other hand Dex and Calamity are the hardest uniques to get by far.
Mayday can be obtained by completing the mission Doctors Of Doom in Insane difficulty.
Calamity can be obtained by completing the mission Reverse Perfection in Insane difficulty.
Nathan can be obtained by completing the mission Going Streaking in Insane difficulty,
Evelynn can be obtained by completing the mission Ninja Nights in Insane difficulty.
Tower can be obtained by completing the mission The Hitman in Insane difficulty.
Dex can be obtained by completing the mission Rocket Race 4.0 in Insane difficulty.
Jyn can be obtained by completing the mission Watch Your Back in Insane difficulty.
Fatale can be obtained by completing the mission Elemental Fury in Insane difficulty.
Wesley is obtained in the beginning of the game. Same goes for Sanchez.
