The AWP is a gold custom Sniper Rifle in SFH3.
Appearance[]
The AWP is similar in appearance to the real-life AWM. The gun keeps mostly of its color tone with the exclusion of the stock covers, bolt handle, bolt, rifle barrel, muzzle, and pins on the gun body which are all made of gold. The model always include an extra foregrip and a triple laser sight attached to the barrel.
Description[]
The AWP is a customized version of the L115 Sniper Rifle. It boasts high damage and accuracy, making it a formidable long-range weapon. However, it has a low fire rate even for a sniper rifle, and a super limited ammo capacity, maxing out at only 4 rounds in-clip and 8 rounds of spares, all of these making it a risky choice when going up against higher-level enemies like a 30 levels Juggernaut.
AWP offers a significant 50% boost in headshot damage, making a well-placed shot to the head a nearly guaranteed instant kill. Due to its low fire rate and limited ammo, the chances of landing a headshot are low, especially against a high-level enemy. Missing the headshot or hitting anywhere other than the head can result in death going away in mere seconds.
Pros and Cons[]
Pros[]
- Highest alpha damage out of all Snipers with 216.1 impact damage at level 31 full upgrades; even a bodyshot is enough to cripple or even knock out a target of equal levels without Adrenaline/Life Support.
- Highest range out of all weapons in the game on-par with Bennett's Doom and Peacekeeper for 88 range at maximum possible level.
- Is a custom weapon; has an additional effect that buffs powerful headshots into a straight Death Star weapon style.
- Outstanding accuracy due to being a Sniper.
Cons[]
- Low ammo and spare ammo capacity.
- Low fire rate.
- Long reload time.
Tips[]
Use the AWP for long range combat. One or two shots can take down an enemy, depending on their health. Make sure to grab ammo often, as 9 rounds doesn't get very far. After killing an enemy, immediately duck in a corner and reload if possible. AWP is exceptionally effective with Extreme Focus especially for headhunting. At lvl 31 (30 if upgraded to max), even an equal level Juggernaut can't withstand a headshot from a focused AWP. If you do not have any mag-extending attachments or are currently using Wall Hack, it's generally wise to not engage multiple targets at a time and instead pick one and only one since the largest weakness of the AWP is the ammunition count.
One attachment to go with the AWP is the Extended Mag, or an even better variant, Ammo Pack. This helps increase the overall ammo capacity for the gun. The best character to go with the AWP is Jyn as all of his skills support further damage on the rifle and for the headshots. A second potential build would be equipping Drum Mag and Scavenger for continuous firing if possible. Equipping either of these items without the other one will result in the build being extremely ineffective.
Trivia[]
- The AWP was also featured in SFH as the last sniper rifle unlocked.
- The L118A in SFH2 is part of the same weapon family made by Accuracy International.
- Technically it should be the AWM, as the L115 is known as the AWM (Arctic Warfare Magnum), using .338 Lapua Magnum ammo and AWP (Arctic Warfare Police) is L96&L96a1, using 7,62x51mm NATO (.308 Winchester) ammo.
